The Foster County courthouse, built in 1909 was, at that time, thought to have been built too far out of town, majestically placed on the open prairie. Today residences frame the courthouse lot on the south side, county buildings on the west, the courthouse park on the east side, and to the north is the Highway 200 overpass.
Foster County celebrated the 100th Birthday of the Courthouse on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. the public was invited. A ceremony took place at 2:30 p.m. by the three Commissioners’ (Dwayne Erickson, Chairman; Jim Carr & Leroy Hart) and their wives. Also present was Commissioner Paul Straley who will take over for Leroy Hart starting December 1st. Following the ceremony coffee and cake was served.
