FOSTER COUNTY

FIRE EMERGENCY AND BURN BAN

 

 

WHEREAS: the lack of snow/rain, warm temperatures, and high winds have allowed for an excessive dry down of fuels which has increased the chance of disastrous wild fires and;

WHEREAS: The local Fire Departments remain committed to protecting the life and property of our residents, the financial impact of these fires can easily overwhelm their resources, and;

WHEREAS: the sheer number and amount of damages of these fires will cause an inordinate amount of equipment wear and damage which may be far in excess of our county’s resources to repair or replace;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Foster County Commissioners declares a Fire Emergency for all of Foster County including all of its incorporated cities, with the exception for the City of Carrington, North Dakota; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the board of commissioners proclaims that a Burn Restriction is in effect until further notice, whenever the North Dakota Fire Danger Rating is “Extreme”, and/or a Red Flag Warning has been issued for Foster County

 

The Burn Restriction includes: burning of crop land, garbage burning, campfires, unauthorized off-road motorized travel, and smoking except for in an improved area with a radius of three (3) feet that is free of flammable debris.

 

ANY INDIVIDUAL WHO WILLFULLY VIOLATES THIS BURN BAN IS GUILTY OF A CLASS B MISDEMEANER (NDCC 37-17.1-10.1) PUNISHABLE BY A FINE OF UP TO $1,500.00 FINE AND 30 DAYS IN JAIL. THE FOSTER COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT IS AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE CITATIONS TO VIOLATERS

 

The burn ban was signed by the Chairman of the Foster County Comission 03 May 2016.
